
Leave the directory at it's default root directory.
Retype the password in the second "Password" text field. A password strength indicator in CPanel shows you if your password is weak or strong. For best security, use a complicated password at least eight characters long, comprised of upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols. Type a password in the first "Password" text field. In CPanel, type a username in the "Login" text field. If you already have an FTP account but can't remember the password, you can click the "Change Password" button to change it.Īdd a new FTP account if you don't already have one. The usernames are displayed, but not the passwords. In CPanel, this is near the bottom of the page. Look at the list of the FTP accounts already created for your website. In CPanel, this is located in the Files menu.
Click the OK button, and try to connect again.Look for the "FTP Accounts" link and click it. Click the menu next to Server Type, and choose Default (Autodetect), or Unix. Select your site, then the Advanced tab. If you are able to connect successfully, but cannot upload/download files, the Server Type setting may be incorrect.
If you are having issues connecting, try using the Quickconnect option in Filezilla, as described in the first part of this article.
You are now successfully connected to your server.
You will see a stream of text, with a Directory listing successful message at the bottom.
After entering your settings, click the Quickconnect button.
